Transforming spaces one step at a time.
In 2012, MGM Resorts International launched a $500 million renovation project on Las Vegas Boulevard that is completely changing the pedestrian realm for the City. Plans included exterior renovations in front of the Monte Carlo and New York-New York hotels, newly constructed plazas, dining pavilions, retail outlets, pedestrian walkways along the boulevard, and the first public park in history along the Las Vegas Strip.
The hardscape elements were designed by !melk, landscape architect and master planner, based in New York City. Classic Stone began working with !melk in the spring of 2012 to assist during the design phase with the pattern and overall layout of the paving stone. Throughout the process, we conducted extensive material sampling and testing programs and provided guidance and input during the hardscape specification stage. A formal mock-up was completed in early 2013, and Classic Stone was awarded the project shortly thereafter. In total, Classic Stone provided over 326,000 sqft of granite, marble and travertine stone used for paving and cladding throughout development. The Park’s grand opening took place on April 4th. The project aspires to achieve LEED Gold certification from the USGBC.
