Classic Stone LLC (Classic Stone) was recently awarded the stonework contract for one of six project sites currently being developed by the Qatar Defense Military for the Shield-5 program. The massive, almost one billion dollar program is being managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Middle East District) and consists of several missile defense sites along with numerous support facilities.

Midmac Contracting Co. is the general contractor for the program’s headquarters, which along with utilities and infrastructure, includes ten buildings. Classic Stone will source, supply, and install nearly 20,000 sqm of marble for eight of the ten buildings specified with natural stone. The stone will be used primarily for interior flooring and wall cladding.

The project schedule is extremely tight, with completion of the first two buildings scheduled for Qatar National Day on December 18, 2018. In order to meet the impending deadline, Classic Stone expedited production at the factory, accelerated delivery, and added extra manpower on-site.

The remaining buildings are also under construction and are scheduled for handover in 2019.
