Construction Underway at 5M Mary Court Park in SoMa
Classic Stone LLC (Classic Stone) was recently awarded the exterior stone contract for Mary Court, a new public park within the massive 5M mixed-use development project in downtown San Francisco.
Developed by Brookfield Properties, the entire project spans over 4-acres transforming and redeveloping old buildings, parking lots and historic buildings in the vibrant SoMa neighborhood. The project has been divided into phases, with the first phase set to include the new park, a 25-story office tower with retail on the ground floor, a 20-story residential tower, and two renovated and repurposed historic buildings.
Designed by New York-based landscape architect, !melk, the privately funded public space will form the centerpiece of the 5M development, connecting the surrounding community with urban amenities including play areas, ample seating, a performance stage, and plenty of green space.
Classic Stone worked closely with !melk during the stone sampling and selection process. A combination of white and gray granite will be used for the planters (walls, caps, dividers), which will be scattered throughout the space to provide plenty of seating. Classic Stone is also sourcing and supplying dark gray granite pavers for the pedestrian walkways throughout the park.
Construction for Mary Court is well underway with project completion slated for the end of 2021.
