Qatar National Bank (QNB) recently opened their newest branch in Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), a massive redevelopment project transforming the center of Doha into a smart and sustainable downtown district.
The new four-story building is QNB’s most luxurious branch to-date, constructed with 25,000 sqft of high-end natural stone sourced globally. Italian travertine was used on the walls in the reception, corridors, and offices. The stone was installed vertically with vein continuity from floor to ceiling and no visible joints. To achieve this, large block sizes were selected and cut in Italy and then transferred to our local fabrication shop in Doha for final adjustments.
The conference rooms feature decorative limestone wall tiles from our carved stone collection. White glass tiles were used for the flooring giving the space a clean, elegant look. To add a bit of artistic style, a custom floor mosaic was created in neutral colors with a modern Arabic pattern. The mosaic was assembled and inspected at the factory to ensure a smooth installation.
QNB Msheireb was designed and constructed according to the LEED New Construction 2009 certification system and is looking to achieve LEED Gold status. The branch officially opened in November 2018.
Since the launch of their expansion program in 2011, Classic Stone has been the preferred natural stone supplier, assisting the design team with material selections and specification guidance on nearly 20 new branches throughout Qatar.
