The Parks At 5M

Developed by Brookfield Properties, The Parks at 5M is part of the 5M mixed-use development spanning across four acres at Fifth and Mission streets in downtown San Francisco. The project has transformed old parking lots and underutilized buildings into an experience for locals and visitors alike.

The $20 million privately owned public park is the centerpiece of the new district, connecting the surrounding community with urban amenities including a children’s playground, performance stage, dog run and plenty of green space.

Designed by !melk and Cliff Lowe Associates, The Parks at 5M feature a mix of granite cobbles and pavers. The majority of the area is paved with rectangle granite pavers in a herringbone pattern. Dark gray granite cobbles are weaved in creating playful bands and borders. The pointed-oval planters feature a white granite, many with a sculptural stone spine through the middle. The planters are scattered throughout the park providing ample seating and beautiful foliage. All of the exterior stone was sourced and supplied by Classic Stone.

The Parks at 5M officially opened in March 2022 and is the city’s largest ground-level privately owned public open space.
