The Tower at Mutual Plaza recently underwent an $11M renovation and expansion program to modernize and restore the historic tower in downtown Durham, North Carolina.
Improvements were made throughout the building, including a remodeled and expanded lobby, extensive renovations of conference rooms and shared spaces, and exterior improvements. Significant portions of the original building have been preserved.
Classic Stone collaborated with Built Form, lead architect on the project, to source and supply over 15,000 sqft of marble and granite for the project. The interiors are bright and airy with lots of natural light and sophisticated office decor. Mystic Gray marble was used throughout the lobby in a polished finish.
As part of the exterior improvements, an enhanced plaza was constructed with ample seating for outdoor work and gatherings. Classic Stone supplied granite pavers in dark earth tone colors for the plaza and entrance areas.
The building reopened in late 2018, with Duke University and Perkins & Will among their impressive list of new tenants.
