After nearly two years, a massive, luxury residence in Doha, Qatar is in the final stages of construction.
With a sophisticated, French-inspired design, the six-acre development includes a grand main house, two large villas, expansive courtyard, open loggia, swimming pool and pool house.
Classic Stone supplied and installed over 250,000 sqft of beige limestone cladding using an anchorage railing system. Sourced from France, the stone has a sleek, honed finish, aside from the base of the buildings, which features a split-face finish in a slightly darker tone. The stonework is extremely intricate and ornate with a tremendous amount of decorative carved elements at every turn; including balusters, moldings, corbels, arches, columns, and finials.
Marble columns were also supplied and installed throughout the entrances adding a pop of color to the mostly neutral exteriors. A combination of limestone and marble pavers were used in the open loggia, covered terrace, and arcade.
The project had many challenging aspects. Due to the design complexity, an extraordinary amount of very detailed and precise shop drawings were produced by our in-house A&D team in Turkey. This phase required an immense amount of coordination and meetings between team members located in Paris, China, and Qatar.
Blocks were carefully selected in France and shipped to China for production. With rigid specifications and a tremendous amount of cut tickets, production was very involved and demanded expert craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.
During installation, custom anchorage tools and additional manpower was required to meet the rigorous project schedule. Over 260,000 sqft of natural stone was installed over a 15-month period.
A true example of our quarry-to-project business model, this project involved the coordination of a remote quarry in France, a Paris-based design team, fabrication in China, and site installation in Qatar.
Expected project completion is slated for spring 2020.
